What a great Thanksgiving party we had last night! Althea and I had prepared pumpkin squares (big pan version of pumpkin pie), brownies, Craisins, bananas with peanut butter, candy corn, hot spiced cider, and sweet tea. Odd combination? Yes, but the reason is clear: we had 85 people in attendance! When we realized so many were coming, we scurried around pretty well. It may not have been typical Thanksgiving food, but it was definitely typical American food.
Most exciting to us was that we had 9 readers there! And many others had good reasons for not attending–illness, funeral, etc. And since some readers brought family, there were 18 in all. Here you can see our precious group with Althea and me in the back row. You can see little Jose holding up his hand turkey. Even the adults got quite into the idea.
One of our guests was the grandfather of Cleo’s wife, Chanet. He is a chief in his village, but a sweet and humble man. He took the “thankful turkey” as seriously as did everyone else.
They loved the Spoon Brownies, by the way!

Below are pictures of some activities. The best part was that two readers asked when our services are. Since the party was at the building where the church meets, that part was clear. Everyone in town knows where the Campimento Guadalupano is. Soon perhaps it will be better known as the Iglesia de Cristo. May God bless them all!
