This morning both of my readers had canceled, so Cris got me an appointment with her nail tech across the street from us.
Differences from getting a manicure in Ft Thomas:
The door is kept locked at all times. They unlocked it for me to get in and locked it after each person entered.
We had no conversation. How could we? She speaks no English; my only Portuguese is for “excuse me” and “thank you.”
She did strictly nails. No hand massage, no lotioning up to the elbows, no removing jewelry.
Several times she took off the white polish for the French manicure and put it back She was a perfectionist.
When she finished, she sprayed it with a fixative and was done. No sitting under a heat lamp.
And the best difference of all? $6.50.
Now that’s the kind of difference I love!
A bonus to no talking: I was able to pray for my friend/foster daughter Holly for an extended time. She is recovering in Cleveland from a pancreatic duodenectomy yesterday– emergency surgery.
I believe the surgery was an answer to many prayers after her pancreatic cancer diagnosis last month. I thank God that she is able to be transported back to Kentucky and solicit your prayers on her behalf!

I will certainly pray for Holly. God answers prayers and I will pray for her to recover well and be cancer free.
No arm massage? That’s what I go for 🙂 And those wonderful massage chairs you sit in when you get a pedicure. But, $6.50…that’s awfully tempting.
