Grew up in Portland, Tennessee, with godly parents and two younger brothers. Became a Christian in 1957, baptized at the Clearview Church of Christ. Attended Lipscomb University in Nashville for two years, finished teaching degree at George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville in 1965.
Married Steve Boyd of Bedford, Indiana, on August 24, 1965, when we were 21 and 20. Lived in Nashville a year while he finished at Lipscomb and I taught at Glencliff Elementary.
Moved to Pittsburg, KS, for Steve to work on Master’s degree, 1966-67, while I taught at Washington Elementary. Moved to Blowing Rock, NC, for Steve to teach at Appalachian State in Boone and me to teach in Lenoir, NC. Moved to Bloomington, Illinois, where Steve taught at Illinois State while working on his doctorate at the University of Illinois and I taught at Oakdale Elementary for four years.
Moved to Southgate, Kentucky, in 1972, pregnant with son. Back to teaching in 1973. Moved to Ft Thomas, KY, in 1976. Adopted daughter in 1980. Father died in 1984. Son married in 1995, daughter in 2005. Mother died in 2009.
Taught for 34 years, then retired to write. Two wonderful spouses of our children, three marvelous grandchildren.
Six three- to six-week mission trips to Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia, and Fiji.
Actively working with the Central Church of Christ in Cincinnati, Ohio, now there for 38 years. Love the community of believers there!
Favorite ministry now: weekly Bible study with mothers of young children. Sharing, praying, studying!
