Celebrating More Than the Fourth

July 5, 2018 by Lanita Boyd

In spite of temps in the 90s, we had a lovely Fourth of July celebration at the home of our daughter, Kelsey, and her husband, Stephen. Everyone was in place by 10 in the morning because of getting there early to park. The parade started promptly at 10:30 with seemingly dozens of gorgeous Corvettes leading … [Read more…]

Signs of Spring Party

March 27, 2017 by Lanita Boyd

Another successful FriendSpeak party! All 50 name tags were used, but it was a little hard to get a count when the children were moving around so quickly. About 20 were international people. Our theme was “Signs of Spring,” meaning spring in the U.S. It’s surprising how much is going on here in the spring. … [Read more…]

As she said, “It is familiar but not common, and the workers at Starbucks can say it when they can’t say … [Read more…]

My Newest FriendSpeak Readers

February 23, 2016 by Lanita Boyd

On Monday afternoons, I meet with two Chinese women who are students at the University of Cincinnati. We meet at the Panera near campus. They couldn’t be more different and still be the same nationality. Yesterday was the fourth time I’ve met with Ziyan (tsee-yahn). She tells Americans her name is Tracy because that’s easier … [Read more…]

What is FriendSpeak?

January 26, 2016 by Lanita Boyd

The past week has been wonderful and crazy-hectic. God has been greatly at work in the hearts and minds of many international students at the University of Cincinnati. Here’s the story. For years we have tried to have an active FriendSpeak program at Central. We use the same materials we’ve used on LST projects, but this … [Read more…]
